conger

Large coastal eel

A conger is a large marine eel, particularly the European conger eel, which can grow to considerable length and weight.

Congers inhabit rocky coastal waters and are sometimes caught for food, though they're more common in European cuisine than American: The fisherman hauled up a massive conger from the wreck.
