Crappie's freshwater kin
Sunfish names two very different fish.
The ocean sunfish is a massive, oddly shaped creature—one of the heaviest bony fish, with a truncated body that looks like a swimming head.
Freshwater sunfish are small, colorful North American fish including bluegills, pumpkinseeds, and crappies, popular with casual anglers: We caught a few sunfish off the dock.
