Indo-Pacific

Ocean region name

Indo-Pacific refers to the combined Indian and Pacific Ocean regions, treated as a single strategic and geopolitical zone.

The term gained prominence in the 21st century as a framework for discussing security alliances, trade routes, and the growing influence of China: the Indo-Pacific strategy, a free and open Indo-Pacific.

In marine biology, Indo-Pacific describes species distributed across both ocean basins.
