Imperial Guard

The Imperial Guard most commonly refers to Napoleon's elite military force, the Garde Impériale, which served as his personal troops and tactical reserve.

In popular culture, Imperial Guard often names fictional military forces in science fiction and fantasy settings, particularly the vast human armies in the Warhammer 40,000 universe (officially renamed Astra Militarum but still widely called Imperial Guard by players): He painted an entire Imperial Guard regiment over the summer. (Lowercase imperial guard is the generic term for any emperor's bodyguard.)
