douche

Internal hygiene wash

A douche is a device for washing out a body cavity with a stream of water or other solution, used medically for cleansing wounds or, historically, for vaginal hygiene: Vaginal douches are now discouraged by doctors.

The word comes from French for shower.

To douche is to wash with such a device.

As slang, douche (short for douchebag) is an insult for an arrogant, obnoxious, or contemptible person—typically a man: That guy is such a douche.

The insult implies someone offensive and oblivious about it.
