clean up

Neaten a space

Clean up means to make something tidy or free of dirt and disorder: I need to clean up the kitchen before guests arrive.

It extends to removing corruption or crime: The new mayor promised to clean up city hall.

To clean up can also mean to profit handsomely: They cleaned up at the casino.

A cleanup is the act of cleaning or, in baseball, the fourth position in the batting order.
