double-deck

Stacked in layers

Double-deck describes something built with two levels or tiers stacked vertically.

A double-deck bus has passenger seating on two floors, while a double-deck bridge carries traffic on two levels.

The term also applies to sandwich construction: a double-decker piles three slices of bread with fillings between each layer.

As a verb, to double-deck means to add a second level to something or arrange it in two tiers.
