superjumbo

Largest passenger plane

Superjumbo describes the largest class of commercial aircraft, specifically those with two full passenger decks capable of carrying 500 or more passengers.

The term entered common use with the Airbus A380, which first flew in 2005: The superjumbo era may already be ending as airlines favor smaller, more efficient planes.

Before this, jumbo referred to wide-body jets like the Boeing 747.
