categories
Types or classes
Categories are classes or divisions within a larger system of classification.
Things in the same category share defining features that distinguish them from things in other categories: The store organizes products by category.
The word often implies formal or systematic grouping: budget categories, award categories, grammatical categories.
To categorize is to assign things to such groups.
