Extent of jurisdiction
Purview is the scope or range of something's authority, concern, or operation.
A matter falls within the purview of a committee if that committee has jurisdiction over it.
The word often appears in legal and bureaucratic contexts: That decision is outside my purview.
More broadly, purview can mean the range of someone's knowledge or experience.
