diecasting

Injected metal shaping

Diecasting is a manufacturing process where molten metal is forced under pressure into a mold cavity.

The molds, called dies, produce precise, identical parts repeatedly—engine blocks, door handles, toy cars.

The term covers both the process and its products: The factory specializes in aluminum diecasting.

Also spelled die-casting or die casting.
