dies

Ceases to live

Dies has two sources in English.

From die meaning to cease living: everything dies eventually, she dies in the final act, a phone battery dies when it runs out of power.

The plural of die (a stamping tool or a single gaming cube) gives the other dies: The machinist replaced the worn dies.

A die is also a decorative stamp, so dies can refer to those.
