data bus
Internal data pathway
A data bus is the pathway that transfers data between components inside a computer—connecting the processor, memory, and input/output devices.
The width of a bus, measured in bits, determines how much data can move simultaneously: a 64-bit data bus.
By extension, any communication channel linking electronic components may be called a bus.
