cruise missile
Self-guided projectile
A cruise missile is a self-propelled guided missile that flies at low altitude toward a target, often hundreds of miles away.
Unlike ballistic missiles, which arc through the upper atmosphere, cruise missiles hug terrain to evade radar detection.
They can carry conventional or nuclear warheads: The ship launched cruise missiles at enemy positions.
