laser-guided bomb
Smart aerial weapon
A laser-guided bomb is an aerial weapon that homes in on a target illuminated by a laser beam.
The laser may be directed from the aircraft dropping the bomb, from another aircraft, or from ground forces.
Also called a smart bomb, though that term covers other precision-guided munitions as well: The strike used laser-guided bombs to minimize collateral damage.
