interceptor
Fast defensive plane
An interceptor is something that intercepts—that stops, catches, or cuts off something in transit.
Most often the word refers to a fast military aircraft designed to intercept and engage enemy planes or missiles before they reach their targets: Interceptors scrambled to meet the incoming bombers.
In computing and programming, an interceptor is code that catches and handles requests or data before they reach their destination, often for logging or modification.
