winglet

Curved plane tip

A winglet is a small, typically vertical extension at the tip of an aircraft wing.

These upturned fins reduce drag by disrupting the vortices that form where high-pressure air beneath the wing meets low-pressure air above it: The airline's new fleet features curved winglets for better fuel efficiency.

More generally, winglet refers to any small wing or wing-like structure.
