F-35
Lightning II jet
The F-35 Lightning II is a single-seat, single-engine stealth fighter jet developed by Lockheed Martin for the United States and allied nations.
It comes in three variants: conventional takeoff, short takeoff and vertical landing, and carrier-based.
The most expensive weapons program in history, the F-35 has faced criticism for cost overruns and technical problems while being praised for its advanced sensor fusion and stealth capabilities.
The Air Force deployed F-35s to the region.
