crowberry
Black northern fruit
Crowberry is a low-growing evergreen shrub of northern and arctic regions, or its small black berry.
The berries are edible but bland, traditionally eaten by indigenous peoples of the Arctic.
The plant thrives in poor, acidic soils where little else grows: The tundra was carpeted with crowberry and moss.
