distilleries

Spirit production facilities

Distilleries are facilities where alcoholic spirits are produced through distillation—the process of heating fermented liquids to separate and concentrate alcohol.

Whiskey, vodka, gin, and rum each come from distilleries specializing in that spirit.

The word also applies to any place where liquids are purified through distillation: a water distillery, an essential oils distillery.
