concave lenses
Thinner at center
Concave lenses are thinner at the center than at the edges, causing light rays to spread apart rather than converge.
They make objects appear smaller and are used to correct nearsightedness in eyeglasses.
Also called diverging lenses.
The opposite is a convex lens, which bulges outward at the center.
