A coffee bean is the seed of the coffee plant, roasted and ground to make coffee.
The beans grow inside bright red or purple fruits called coffee cherries.
Before roasting, green coffee beans have little aroma; roasting develops the flavors and oils that give coffee its characteristic taste.
