Very dark coffee
French roast is coffee beans roasted until very dark, producing a bold, smoky flavor with low acidity.
The beans appear nearly black and oily on the surface.
Despite the name, the style isn't particularly French—it simply designates a roast level darker than medium or city roast: I prefer French roast for my morning coffee.
