co-signing

Backing another's loan

Co-signing is adding your signature to a loan or contract alongside the primary borrower, making yourself legally responsible if they default: My mother co-signed my first car loan.

By extension, co-signing means endorsing or vouching for something: I can't co-sign that decision.

In slang, it often means agreeing with or backing someone's statement: I co-sign everything she just said.
