Gender non-conforming describes people whose gender expression—through appearance, behavior, or identity—doesn't align with conventional expectations for their assigned sex.
The term covers a wide spectrum, from women who present masculine to people who reject the gender binary entirely: My kid is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns.
Often abbreviated GNC.
