cis woman

Non-transgender woman

A cis woman is a woman whose gender identity matches the female sex she was assigned at birth—as distinguished from a trans woman.

The prefix cis- comes from Latin meaning "on the same side as," the opposite of trans- ("across").

The term emerged in gender studies and has spread into general usage: The study included both cis women and trans women.
