circle skirt

Twirly dress bottom

A circle skirt is a skirt cut from fabric in a full circle (or portion of one) with a hole at the center for the waist.

When laid flat, it forms a donut shape.

The construction creates natural, even draping and dramatic flare when the wearer moves or spins: She twirled in her circle skirt at the sock hop.

Popular in 1950s fashion and swing dancing.
