hobble skirt
Constricting ankle-length garment
A hobble skirt is a skirt cut so narrow at the hem that it restricts the wearer's stride to short, mincing steps.
Fashionable around 1910-1914, the style required women to literally hobble when walking.
The term now describes any extremely narrow skirt that limits movement: She could barely climb the stairs in that hobble skirt.
