chimney pot

Smokestack's clay crown

A chimney pot is a cylindrical or tapered pipe fitted to the top of a chimney, extending above the roofline to improve draft and disperse smoke.

Made of clay, terra cotta, or metal, chimney pots are common features of British and European architecture: The rooftops bristled with Victorian chimney pots.
