detached house

Unattached single residence

A detached house is a single-family home that stands alone, not sharing walls with neighboring buildings.

The term distinguishes it from semi-detached houses (sharing one wall) and terraced or row houses (sharing two).

More common in British than American English, where single-family home is the usual term: They moved from a flat to a detached house in the suburbs.
