chieftainship
Leader's official position
Chieftainship is the position or office of a chieftain—the leader of a clan, tribe, or similar group.
The term covers both the role itself and the period during which someone holds it: The chieftainship passed to his eldest son.
It can also refer to the territory or people under a chieftain's authority.
