leaderlessness
Absence of command
Leaderlessness is the state of having no leader or lacking leadership.
The term often describes organizations, movements, or situations where no one is directing action or making decisions: The committee descended into leaderlessness after the chair resigned.
It can be a problem—The leaderlessness of the response cost lives—or a deliberate structure, as in decentralized protest movements that embrace leaderlessness to avoid hierarchies and single points of failure.
