chapterhouses

Cathedral assembly rooms

Chapterhouses are buildings where the chapter—the governing body of a cathedral, monastery, or collegiate church—meets to conduct business.

The term also applies to local meeting halls of fraternities, sororities, or other organizations with chapter-based structures: The sorority held its weekly meeting at the chapterhouse.

Singular: chapterhouse.
