caving
Recreational cavern exploration
Caving is the recreational activity of exploring caves—crawling through passages, climbing formations, and navigating underground systems.
Also called spelunking in American English, though serious practitioners sometimes consider that term amateurish.
We went caving in Kentucky last summer.
Separately, caving can mean giving in under pressure: He kept asking until I started caving.
