crawlway

Hands-and-knees passage

A crawlway is a narrow passage or tunnel through which a person must crawl rather than walk—too low or tight for upright movement.

The term appears in caving, mining, and building construction: The crawlway under the house gave access to the pipes.

Also called a crawl space when it's a shallow area beneath a structure.
