holding out
Refusing to yield
Holding out is refusing to accept something or participate in something, waiting for better terms or a different outcome: The union is holding out for higher wages.
It can also mean extending something toward someone: She was holding out a flower.
To hold out is additionally to endure or last: How long can our supplies hold out?
If someone is holding out on you, they're keeping information or resources from you: I know you're holding out on me—tell me what happened.
