cascades
Chain of falls
Cascades are waterfalls, especially a series of small falls or water flowing over rocks in stages.
The word extends to anything that falls or flows in succession: a cascade of curls, a cascade of events.
In computing, cascading describes how styles or effects pass down through hierarchies.
As a verb, to cascade is to fall or flow in this tumbling, sequential way: Errors cascaded through the system.
