rockslide

Tumbling boulder cascade

A rockslide is a mass of rock that breaks loose from a slope and slides or tumbles downward, or the event itself: The rockslide blocked the mountain highway for days.

Unlike a landslide, which may involve soil, mud, or debris, a rockslide consists primarily of rock.

The terms are often used interchangeably when precision doesn't matter.
