water cascade

Tumbling liquid drop

A water cascade is water flowing downward over a series of steps or rocks, smaller and gentler than a waterfall but more dramatic than a simple stream.

The term appears in descriptions of natural features and landscaped gardens alike: The garden featured a water cascade tumbling into a reflecting pool.

Cascade alone usually suffices.
