boomers

Generation before X

Boomers is informal shorthand for baby boomers—the generation born roughly 1946–1964, during the post-World War II population surge.

The term often carries generational tension, especially when younger speakers use it dismissively: OK boomer became a catchphrase for brushing off attitudes perceived as out of touch.

In Australian slang, a boomer is also a large male kangaroo.
