Twist-and-color craft
Tie-dye is a method of dyeing fabric by tying, folding, or twisting sections before applying dye, creating patterns of color where the dye cannot fully penetrate.
The technique produces swirling, psychedelic designs associated with 1960s counterculture and hippie fashion: a tie-dye T-shirt.
As a verb, to tie-dye is to create such patterns: We tie-dyed shirts at summer camp.
