leaded gasoline
Banned automotive fuel
Leaded gasoline is motor fuel containing tetraethyl lead, an additive that prevented engine knock and improved performance.
Once standard, it was phased out in most countries by the late 20th century after research linked airborne lead to serious health problems, particularly in children.
Also called leaded petrol (British) or simply leaded: Does this old car need leaded or unleaded?
