communes

Collective living groups

Communes covers two verbs and their noun forms.

To commune is to communicate intimately or spiritually, often with nature or the divine: She went to the mountains to commune with nature.

A commune is also a group of people living together and sharing resources, property, or responsibilities—from hippie communes to intentional communities.

In France and some other countries, a commune is a basic administrative district, roughly equivalent to a municipality.
