bolas
Thrown leg tanglers
Bolas is a throwing weapon consisting of weights connected by cords, designed to entangle the legs of running animals.
Thrown by gauchos to capture cattle and by indigenous peoples of South America to hunt game, it wraps around the target's limbs and brings it down.
The singular bola refers to one such weapon or sometimes to a single weighted ball.
