beaching

Running onto sand

Beaching is the act of bringing a boat or ship onto shore, whether intentionally or by accident.

Whales and dolphins beach themselves when they become stranded on land, often fatally.

In casual use, beaching describes settling onto a beach for leisure: We spent the afternoon beaching with friends.
