Circulate a report
Bruit is a somewhat formal or literary verb meaning to spread news or rumors: Word of the affair was bruited about town.
It appears almost exclusively in the passive with "about" or "abroad." In medicine, a bruit is an abnormal sound heard through a stethoscope, typically indicating turbulent blood flow in an artery.
