adoptables
Pets seeking homes
Adoptables are original character designs—usually illustrated creatures, humanoids, or fantasy beings—created by artists and sold or given away for others to claim as their own.
Common in online art communities, the buyer gains rights to use and develop the character: I bought three adoptables from my favorite artist this month.
The term also applies to pets available for adoption from shelters, though this use is less common online.
