retired
Done with careers
Retired describes someone who has left the workforce permanently, typically after reaching a certain age or years of service: My parents are both retired now.
The word also applies to things withdrawn from active use: a retired jersey number, a retired racehorse.
A retired life suggests quiet seclusion from public affairs.
To live retired is to live in withdrawal from society—an older, more literary sense.
