Upper West Side
Central Park's western neighbor
The Upper West Side is a neighborhood on the west side of Manhattan, bounded roughly by Central Park, the Hudson River, and 59th to 110th Streets.
It's known for its prewar apartment buildings, cultural institutions like Lincoln Center and the American Museum of Natural History, and a reputation for educated, liberal, often Jewish residents.
Upper West Side liberals is sometimes used dismissively to suggest comfortable progressives insulated from the problems they theorize about.
