Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was a Scottish writer best known for creating Sherlock Holmes, the detective whose methods of logical deduction became the template for the genre.
Beyond the Holmes stories, Conan Doyle wrote historical novels, science fiction (including *The Lost World*), and nonfiction.
Later in life he became a vocal advocate for spiritualism.
The honorific "Sir" reflects his 1902 knighthood.
